Vivien Noakes's Voices of Silence to be published on 6 November
October 27, 2006

There are many anthologies of poetry of the First World War, most of which concentrate only on a few poets. Voices of Silence: the alternative book of First World War poetry is different. Although less literary but equally important, the verse gathered in this new book is by the ordinary soldier. It adds a new and important dimension to our perception of the immediate response to war.
WPA member Vivien Noakes has a doctorate in the poetry of the First World War poet, Isaac Rosenberg, and is the author of Edward Lear: The Life of a Wanderer (Sutton, 2004).

Voices of Silence is available through the WPA's own Amazon A-Store. Please click here to order it now!. Alternatively, it may be cheaper at the moment to order this important new collection directly from the publisher, Sutton Publishing.
A copy of Dr Noakes's Voices of Silence or other books from these pages would of course make a fine Christmas or seasonal present for all of your friends interested in war poetry. If visiting our Amazon Store, now or later, why not order all the books and other publications you need to be delivered before Christmas - whether or not about war poetry - and benefit the WPA (which will receive a small commission). Forgive the blatant commercialism, but it's for a charitable cause! All you need to do is begin your search at our Amazon Store, here, for the WPA to benefit. Many thanks!
